Celebrate Toronto with a Summer of Free Music!
  
Toronto Special Events - This summer, the City of Toronto offers a
jam-packed line-up of free music at Nathan Phillips Square and Mel Lastman
Square. Sponsored by Scotiabank, it showcases the best in world music, big
band sound, and children's programming.

Salute to Seniors - Wednesday, June 12, 2002, Noon to 2 p.m.
Nathan Phillips Square

Programmed for Toronto's seniors, this signature afternoon features dancing to
live music from the Big Band era plus a senior's information fair.

Canada Day - Monday, July 1, 2002, Noon to 2 p.m.
Nathan Phillips Square

For Canada's 135th birthday, audiences celebrate their national pride with the
City's official Canada Day ceremonies. This birthday bash filled with family
fun features incredible free music concerts and a gigantic birthday cake.

Canada Day - Monday, July 1, 2002, 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Mel Lastman Square

Canada's birthday is celebrated in style at our uptown location with an evening
filled with free music concerts. A brilliant fireworks show choreographed to
music provides the grand finale for this birthday celebration.

Sounds in the City - Wednesday, July 3 to August 28, 2002, Noon to 2 p.m.
Nathan Phillips Square

On Wednesdays, music lovers can experience the world within a city as the
Square becomes the epicentre of global rhythms. This lunchtime concert series
provides an incredible line-up of top music performers showcasing Toronto's
diverse music scene complemented by the popular weekly Farmers Market.

Sunday Serenades Concert Series - July 7 to August 25, 2002, 7:30 - 9 p.m.
Mel Lastman Square

On Sunday evenings, music lovers can travel back in time and dance under the
stars to live tunes from the '30s, '40s and '50s featuring Canada's top big
band and swing performers.

Toronto Kids Tuesday - July 23 to August 13, 2002, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Nathan Phillips Square

This four-week series plays host to free themed lunch-hour programmes just for
kids in the heart of the city. Each Tuesday, kids can enjoy the best in
children's performers plus an afternoon chock-full of imaginative activities
with amazing make-and-take crafts, fun face painting and more!

Admission to all summer programmes is free. Located at 100 Queen Street West,
Nathan Phillips Square is easily accessed by the TTC Queen streetcar (501), or
the Yonge Line subway (exit Queen station) or the University line (exit Osgoode
Station). Mel Lastman Square is located at 5100 Yonge Street two blocks north
of Sheppard Avenue. By TTC, take the Yonge line subway (exit North York
Centre).
