City appoints commissioner of Community and Neighbourhood Services

The City of Toronto's Chief Administrative Officer, Shirley Hoy, today
announced the appointment of Eric Gam to the position of commissioner of
Community and Neighbourhood Services. Toronto City Council confirmed Gam's
appointment at its meeting today.

Gam had been acting commissioner of Community and Neighbourhood Services since
June 27, 2001. Prior to that, he was the department's executive director of
Social Development and Administration since January 1997.

"Eric is a valuable member of our team and he brings a wealth of experience and
knowledge to the position," said Hoy. "I look forward to continuing our work
together."

Between 1981 and 1997, Gam worked for the former Metro Community Services
Department in positions such as director of Operational Analysis and Review and
executive director of Administrative Services.
