Giller short list at the library

Toronto (Thursday, October 3, 2002) - All five books announced this morning as
short-listed for the 2002 Giller Prize are available at Toronto Public Library.

The library has 40 copies of The Polished Hoe by Austin Clarke; seven copies of
Mount Appetite by Bill Gaston; 141 copies of The Navigator of New York by Wayne
Johnston; 17 copies of Open by Lisa Moore; and 332 copies of Unless by Carol
Shields.

All titles can be reserved through the library's online catalogue in library
branches, or on the Web at www.tpl.toronto.on.ca.

As always, the library will buy additional copies to meet increased demand by
library users.

The Polished Hoe, The Navigator of New York, and Unless are also available in
the library's Best Bets collections - in-demand, seven-day-loan book
collections available in 29 library branches. Open and Mount Appetite will be
available as Best Bets shortly.

Austin Clarke is the library's writer-in-residence this fall and winter during
the Toronto Reference Library's 25th anniversary celebrations.
