Media Advisory: Major-General Richard Rohmer, new Honorary Chief of Toronto Emergency Medical Services, will present Toronto EMS annual awards
Emergency Medical Services - Major-General Richard Rohmer will be
named Honorary Chief of Toronto Emergency Medical Services at an investiture
ceremony tomorrow at Toronto Emergency Services Headquarters. After his
investiture as Honorary Chief, will present this year's Toronto EMS Awards to
paramedics, EMS personnel, members of allied services and citizens who have
gone above and beyond in their efforts to help people and save lives.

Date: Thursday, December 19
Time: 1 p.m.
Place: Toronto Emergency Services Headquarters 4330 Dufferin St.

Among the awards to be presented are the Valour Award for acts of bravery by
paramedics, the Merit Award for outstanding initiative, the William J. Allen
Award for community service, the Allied Service Award, and the Citizen's Award
to residents who render outstanding assistance to Toronto EMS.

Speakers at the ceremony will include:
  • Case Ootes, Deputy Mayor, City of Toronto
  • Shirley Hoy, Chief Administrative Officer, City of Toronto
  • Barry Gutteridge, Commissioner, Works and Emergency Services
  • Ron Kelusky, General Manager, Toronto Emergency Medical Services
  • Major-General Richard Rohmer
A media availability will take place at the end of the
awards ceremony.
