Media Advisory: City of Toronto launches Black History Month at exhibit preview
Members of the media are invited to join Councillor Sherene Shaw, Chair, Race
and Ethnic Relations Committee and Diversity Advocate for the official launch
of Black History Month at a reception featuring the exhibit preview of
Remembering the Black Loyalists: Black Communities in Nova Scotia, 1782-1785.

Date: Monday, February 3
Time: 6 to 9 p.m. (official program begins at 7 p.m.)
Place: St. Lawrence Hall, 157 King St. E.

The program will include live music by Marcus Garvey Choir as well as a keynote
address by Dr. Henry Bishop, Chief Curator and Director of the Black Cultural
Centre for Nova Scotia. The evening will conclude with a ceremonial
registration of Black Loyalist descendants.

Media will have an opportunity to witness the unveiling of the exhibit before
it goes on display. The exhibit will be available for public viewing at
various locations throughout the city from February 4 to March 23.
