New demographic data looks at Toronto from a neighbourhood perspective

For the first time in Toronto, neighbourhood-level population data is available
to help communities and decision-makers make more informed decisions. The City
of Toronto has now released the second in a series of neighbourhood profiles
that will present data for 140 neighbourhoods across the city. Series 2 -
Immigration, Ethnicity and Language is now available on Toronto's official Web
site. This data complements the recent release of Ward data on the Web site.

The neighbourhood profiles are designed using 2001 Census data. The first
profile released focused on age and gender. Future releases will include data
on families, households, education, the labour force and income.

The Neighbourhood Profiles CD-Rom series is designed by the Social Policy,
Analysis and Research Unit, Social Development and Administration Division,
Toronto Community and Neighbourhood Services.
