The City of Toronto will launch the second phase of the Green Bin Program,
which adds 115,000 Scarborough single-family households to the organics
collection program on Monday, June 23, 2003. The City, employing C.U.P.E.
Local 416 members, will begin weekly green bin collection in addition to the
currently available garbage, recycling and yard waste collection. The launch
takes place one day prior to the actual first collection day (collection is
Tuesday - Friday) so as not to interfere with the first day of Council meetings.

Several City Councillors will be present to kick off the Scarborough program
and demonstrate this new diversion initiative.
