Mayor to honour SARS heroes at reception

Toronto - Mayor Mel Lastman today invited front-line City staff involved in
SARS containment and recovery to join him Thursday night at a thank-you
reception being held in their honour.

"Like the New York City firefighters of 9-11, our front-line health workers and
City staff members have been the real heroes of Toronto these past two months,"
said Lastman.

"They've put themselves in harms way to protect the people of this great City.
Thursday night will be our way of saying thank-you - for the dedication, the
commitment and for going above and beyond the call of duty."

The party, featuring live entertainment, will take place Thursday night at the
Design Exchange on Bay St. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the festivities will
continue until 7 p.m.
