Media Advisory: Clearing the air at the Smog Summit Community Forums and GTA-wide idle-free campaign
The first Smog Summit Community Forum will take place with a welcome message
from Councillor David Soknacki, chair of the Toronto Atmospheric Fund board.
This event marks the first in a series of forums and events that lead up to the
fourth annual Smog Summit on June 20. This year's focus is making the
connection between smog and energy use. A GTA-wide idle-free campaign will also
be launched before the forum.

Date: Monday, June 2
Time: 4 p.m. - idle-free campaign launch; 6:30 p.m. - community forum
Location: 100 Princes' Blvd.
Exhibition Place, Queen Elizabeth Complex, Fountain Dining Room

The public and media will learn more about smog and energy reduction
initiatives from local business and community groups that have volunteered
their time to participate in this event.

The remaining forums will take place on June 5 at 7 p.m. (Central Library
Atrium, Mississauga), June 12 at 7 p.m. (Ajax Community Centre) and June 14 at
1 p.m. (Millennium Park, Markham).

From Monday, June 2 through Sunday, June 8, the City will participate in the
idle-free campaign with an enforcement blitz to increase awareness of the
City's idling bylaw.
