"When Fire Strikes: Get Out! Stay Out!" - Toronto Maple Leafs' Great Ed Belfour
Helps Toronto Fire Services Launch Fire Prevention Week

Who: Toronto Fire Services, in conjunction with the Ontario Fire Marshal's
Office and the National Fire Protection Association

What: On Monday, October 6, beginning at 1:30 p.m., the partners will launch
Fire Prevention Week at the Air Canada Centre, by unveiling a new fire safety
poster featuring Toronto Maple Leafs' goaltender Ed Belfour. Speakers include
Ontario Fire Marshal Bernard Moyle, Toronto Fire Chief Bill Stewart and Ed
Belfour.

Where: Air Canada Centre
Bell Media Room - Media may enter through Gate Two.

When: Monday, October 6, 2003 at 1:30 p.m.

Why: The poster will assist Toronto Fire Services in concentrating its efforts
on making sure Toronto residents understand that they need working smoke alarms
on every level of their home, and they should plan ahead of time how they
would get out if fire strikes, and practice that plan regularly.

"Toronto Fire Services looks forward to working with the Toronto Maple Leafs in
launching Fire Prevention Week 2003", says Fire Chief Bill Stewart. "I urge all
residents to install working smoke alarms on every level of their home and plan
and practice a home escape plan to prevent a home fire tragedy."
