Economic Development - DigitalEve Toronto, an organization dedicated to
advancing women in technology, will be hosting Media Business Forum, a series
of interactive workshops on business management training.
The series of workshops, held from May to October, will educate entrepreneurs
and industry professionals in the screen-based media sectors of television,
film and interactive digital media, focusing on three key areas of their media
business: negotiation, branding and leadership. Toronto Economic Development is
a key supporter of the forum.
"Strategic business management is the cornerstone of successful entrepreneurs
and businesses," said Brenda Librecz, Executive Director, Toronto Economic
Development. "The combination of business savvy and technical capability
translates into successful entrepreneurs and businesses thereby increasing the
number of jobs and investment in the City."
Toronto Economic Development demonstrates its commitment to the digital media
industry by supporting industry associations, like DigitalEve Toronto, to
deliver a wide range of initiatives aimed at stimulating future growth of the

The Media Business Forum is an example of the many professional development
opportunities available through DigitalEve. This series will provide
participants with the tools and the vision to implement the goals of their
organization or company more effectively and to become better managers.
All workshops will be held at Metro Hall, 55 John St. from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. Date and workshop details are as follows:
Negotiating: Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1; $450.
This two-day workshop will develop and enhance skills needed to prepare for a
negotiation, propose creative options, understand and apply "principled" or
interest-based negotiation and communicate effectively during a negotiation.
Branding: Saturday, June 21; $150.
In today's market, it's important for businesses to implement marketing
strategies that will sustain a competitive advantage in a converging media
environment. Participants will learn how to develop a template for creating a
solid brand strategy and animating it across an organization. Discover
strategies for creating and communicating a powerful brand on limited budgets.
Leadership: Date to be determined; $175.
Participants can build on their inherent leadership capabilities, gain ideas on
how to step into a leadership role and enhance interpersonal skills and
processes to lead with confidence.
