Residents encouraged to enjoy events and boost the economy
  
The City of Toronto encourages residents to boost the economy by dining out,
seeing a movie, shopping at the mall. Many special events are also available
this weekend, some of which are listed below.

-- Stars of the 21st Century

The Koffler Centre for the Arts presents its second annual international ballet
fundraising gala, Stars of the 21st Century on Sunday May 4 at the Toronto
Centre for Arts. This is a unique, one-night only opportunity for Toronto to
see the world's best in dance. The evening will feature a program of both
classical and contemporary works by some of the most brilliant performers from
renowned international ballet companies. For more information on the Gala

-- Flex your way to FAME Fitness and Model Expo

The only show of its kind in Canada, the Flex your way to FAME Fitness and
Model Expo takes place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on May 2 and May
3. The expo is a meeting ground for fitness enthusiasts, athletes, models,
professionals, bodybuilders, those who are trying to tone up their physique.
FAME will also feature the latest in products, services, certifications and

-- Clothing Show

The Clothing Show takes place at the Automotive Building on May 3 and May 4.
Find the hottest new trends from local Toronto designers, as well as a large
selection of vintage and retro clothing. With over 200 new, never been seen
clothing designers, established retailers and vintage vendors participating at
this year's show, there's sure to be something for everyone. For more

-- 50 Plus Lifestyle & Travel Show

Learn how to make the most of your retirement at the annual 50 Plus Lifestyle
and Travel Show on May 3 at the International Centre. Canada's largest
retirement living forum showcases hundreds of exhibitors offering products,
services, presentations and workshops about health, retirement living, travel,

-- Sprockets International Film Festival For Children

The Sprockets Film Festival, dedicated solely to younger viewers, will be
screening films from May 3-4 at Canada Square (Famous Players). The films are

-- 11th Annual Good Food Festival and Market: Taste Our Passion

The Good Food Festival and Market takes place at the International Centre on
May 2 and May 3. Renee Unger, creator of Renee's Gourmet, and Norene Gilletz of
Gourmania Inc., host two shows at the Festival, mixing up a dash of their spicy
personalities and a host of other fresh ingredients.

-- "Canada Loves Toronto" campaign

Air Canada is spearheading this initiative with travel partners to encourage
travel to Toronto. Air Canada is offering low airfares from anywhere in Canada
to Toronto. Special incentives and bargains for travellers who come to Toronto
for the Victoria Day weekend will be listed on a new website
(www.canadalovestoronto.ca) starting May 3. It will include links to partner
websites to make booking easier.
