Media Advisory: Opening reception for River of Life by Winsom at Todmorden Mills Heritage Museum and Arts Centre
The City of Toronto Culture division is pleased to present River of Life, an
art installation by Winsom. Opening this weekend, the reception will feature a
performance piece by Winsom with drumming by Muhtadi and dance by Ronald
Taylor. Light refreshments will be included.

The artist's conceptual work will be featured in the newly refurbished Paper
Mill Gallery at Todmorden Mills Heritage Museum and Arts Centre.

"River of Life is about my ancestors from ancient Africa, the connection that
brought them across the ocean as slaves and the connection to me today," said
Toronto-based Winsom. "In using colour, textile, paint, incense and other
objects relating to my ancestors, I invoke all the senses of the viewer while
taking a gallery space and turning it into something very sacred."

(Located at the foot of Pottery Road between Broadview Avenue
and the Bayview extension)

The exhibit runs from January 25 to March 29. Gallery hours are from Tuesday to
Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturday, noon to 3 p.m.

Todmorden Mills is a multidisciplinary cultural complex with a unique
