Community offered active role in the history of High Park by participating in the future of Colborne Lodge

The Board for the Historic Museums Colborne Lodge, Mackenzie House and Spadina
Museum - all volunteers who work with the City of Toronto Culture division -
have announced the launch of a new support group focussing on Colborne Lodge,
the City's historic High Park site. Called Friends of Colborne Lodge, this
group will take on projects such as promoting public awareness for the museum.

The public is invited to the first recruitment and orientation meeting on
Tuesday, October 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rousseau Room at Swansea Town Hall,
95 Lavinia Ave. Interested parties will have the opportunity to join this
dynamic new advocate group which will help safeguard High Park's key historic
site for future generations

During the meeting on October 28, information sessions and presentations will
outline the needs and challenges of "this treasure in the park." Special guest
speaker, Angus Skene, formerly of the Rogers Cable 10 show, "Structures," will
be on hand to talk about Toronto's architecture and history, with special
reference to the local area.

The City of Toronto Culture division operates ten historic museums, including
Colborne Lodge, Mackenzie House and Spadina Museum.

The public can call 416-392-6916 for more information.
