Media Advisory: Volunteers to be honoured for their dedication
Mayor David Miller and City of Toronto will present 12 individuals and one
group with a Toronto Community Service Volunteers Award.

The awards celebrate the work of people who make a difference in Toronto by
giving their personal time, energy and skills.

Date: Tuesday, December 9

Time: Awards presentation - 5 p.m.
Reception - 6 p.m.

Place: Toronto City Hall Council Chamber
100 Queen St. W.

The award winners in each category are:

Children and youth services - Angela Marchese, Sahar Badawy and Cassandra Lord
Community development and community centres - Roger Roberts and Garth Yarde
Community and public health services - SACC (Sexual Assault Care Centre) Web
site team and Josephine George
Immigrant and newcomer services - Miranda Pinto and Peter Sealy
Seniors services - Alex Gorlick and Dorothy MacKinnon
Housing and homelessness - Mark Shapiro and Michael Boismier

Eric Gam, commissioner of Community and Neighbourhood Services will be master
of ceremonies for the event. A reception will be held in the Members' Lounge
following the awards presentation.
