City Council orders vote recount for Ward 25 - Don Valley West

Toronto City Council today required that the City Clerk conduct a recount of
election results from the November 10 municipal election for Ward 25 - Don
Valley West. The recount will take place on Friday, December 12. There were
eight candidates for councillor in Ward 25 this year.

Official election results - declared on November 13 - have Clifford Jenkins as
the winner with 4,859 votes and Jaye Robinson with 4,779 votes, for an 80-vote
difference.

Under the Municipal Elections Act, City Council can order a recount using the
vote tabulator machines used on Election Day. Election Services staff will
conduct in the same manner as done on Election Day. A candidate can also seek a
recount through the courts.

The recount will take approximately three hours to conduct. All candidates in
Ward 25 will be invited to witness the recount. Results will be released
following confirmation of the recount results.
