Yonge Street bridge construction

Works and Emergency Services - The City of Toronto will perform repair work on
the bridge that crosses the West Don River on Yonge Street, just south of York
Mills Road, as part of a city-wide bridge maintenance program.

Beginning in late April, work will be done to restore the structure of the
bridge and prolong its service life. The bridge was originally constructed in
1963 and its deck was replaced in 1985. Work on the bridge is expected to be
completed by late July.

During all stages of construction, at least two lanes of vehicular traffic and
one sidewalk will be maintained in each direction. The concrete median on Yonge
Street will be temporarily removed, then reinstalled following the completion
of the project.

Following the bridge work, Yonge Street will be resurfaced from Lawrence Avenue
to York Mills Road. This project is expected to be completed in early November.
