City launching its 2003 United Way campaign

The City of Toronto's 2003 Employee United Way campaign will be launched at a
festive event on Nathan Phillips Square.

Date: Tuesday, September 9

Time: Noon to 2 p.m.

Place: Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto City Hall

Seven teams of local celebrities and City employees will take part in a version
of the W Network's The Decorating Challenge and The Gardening Gamble. The teams
will build toy boxes that will later be filled with toys donated by Zellers,
then given to United Way member agencies that work with children.

The public is invited to come to the square for lunch, buy a hamburger or
hotdog and a drink for $2 (proceeds to go to the United Way), watch the action,
listen to the live music and maybe even win a prize.

The goal for the City's 2003 municipal employee campaign will be announced
during the event, which will also feature displays by United Way agencies.
