City of Toronto residents can now renew their on-street parking permits through
eService, a new on-line business application that will provide 24/7 access to
many City services in the future.
"This is an exciting first step toward having residents access City services
on-line through the City of Toronto's Web site," said Councillor Brad Duguid,
Chair, Works Committee. "We're hopeful that many of the eligible 45,000
citizens will take advantage of this convenient service to renew their parking
Permit holders only require a permit number or licence plate number and a valid
credit card to make a payment. Once on-line, they can renew permits within
minutes from home or virtually anywhere without having to line up and renew in
person. The renewal of on-street parking permits is the first of several pilot
projects to be provided under the City's Customer Service Improvement
Initiative (CSII) and eCity.
"As part of the City of Toronto's eCity strategy, we will continue to support
new and innovative approaches to electronic service delivery to the public
through eService, eGovernment and eBusiness channels," said James Ridge,
Executive Director, Information and Technology.
The permit parking call centre will have extended hours to offer customer
support during the renewal period. The extended hours will be from Monday to
Friday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April 22
to May 31. For more information, call Transportation Services at 416-392-7873,
