Toronto City Council vote allows retailers to open for the Holiday

The stores are open this Labour Day! Toronto City Council approved a motion
at the end of June declaring Aug 30, 31 and Sept 1, as the "Toronto: You Belong
Here Event Weekend". This event is part of the Mayor's "Toronto: You Belong
Here" Recovery Task Force's economic recovery initiative, created to promote
local businesses and encourage Torontonians to get out and shop and enjoy their
city. Throughout the City, many main street, neighbourhood shops and major
shopping centres will be open. Please call ahead for hours of operation.

"I am thrilled to announce that the major malls, shopping centres and
neighbourhood retailers in the City of Toronto will be open throughout this
holiday weekend. Our merchants are very supportive of this campaign and
welcome the opportunity to give 'Back-to-School' shoppers and others more time
to get their shopping done," said Mayor Mel Lastman. "I'm certainly going to
be taking advantage of the sales in my neighbourhood."

A partial listing of the malls scheduled to be open on Monday includes:
Yorkdale Shopping Centre
Fairview Mall
Eaton Centre
East York Town Centre
Scarborough Town Centre
Bayview Village
Don Mills Centre
Sherway Gardens
Woodbine Centre
Kennedy Commons Power Centre
RioCan Leaside Centre
