Auditor General conducts follow-up review of sexual assault investigations
The City of Toronto's Auditor General is currently conducting a follow-up audit
of the Toronto Police Service's investigation of sexual assaults.

The original audit requested by Toronto City Council followed Justice
McFarland's ruling in the Jane Doe sexual assault case. The report was made
public in October 1999 and included 57 recommendations.

As part of the follow-up review, the Auditor General's Office is interested in
speaking with any member of the public who has reported a sexual assault to the
Toronto Police Service from 2000 to the present. Those wishing to participate
are encouraged to contact Ruvani Shaubel, Auditor General's Office, at
416-392-8034 no later than March 31, 2003.

Information gathered will be used to evaluate how the Toronto Police Service
conducts sexual assault investigations. All information collected will be kept
