Performing Arts Line-Up Announced; Toronto Public Library Awarded Prestigious Public Relations Award
TORONTO, June 23, 2003. Toronto Public Library (TPL) will be honoured this
afternoon with one of the most prestigious awards of the American Library
Association (ALA) in recognition for its work on the TPL's Performing Arts
Lecture Series.

Sponsored by H.W. Wilson, the John Cotton Dana Public Relations Award is given
by the ALA annually to select libraries that have distinguished themselves by
their public education and public relations efforts.

The Performing Arts Series continues to provide the public with the unique
opportunity to hear presentations by outstanding Canadian performers in music,
theatre, film and dance. The Series attracted new partnerships and patrons;
enhanced the Library's contribution to the literary and cultural life of the
city; and raised the Library's profile.

This year's Performing Arts Series will include:
-- Toronto International Film Festival Director, Piers Handling
-- Shaw Festival Artistic Director, Jackie Maxwell
-- Composer, Conductor And Founder Of Esprit Orchestra, Alex Pauk
