All lanes of the Don Valley Parkway will be closed in both directions from
Highway 401 to the Gardiner Expressway for maintenance and construction work on
Sunday, October 26 from 12:01 a.m. (midnight) until 2 p.m.
In addition, the westbound Gardiner Expressway will be closed from Carlaw
Avenue to Jarvis Street and eastbound from the York/Yonge/Bay off-ramp to
Carlaw Avenue on Sunday, October 26 from 12:01 a.m. (midnight) until 2 p.m.
Additional overnight closures of the Gardiner Expressway are also planned for
Sunday, October 26, Monday, October 27 and Tuesday, October 28 from 9 p.m.
until 5 a.m.
The work activities on the Don Valley Parkway include work on the Wynford Drive
Bridge and TTC subway track construction on the Bloor Viaduct. Catch basin
maintenance is being performed on the Gardiner Expressway.
This is the last scheduled work on the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner
Expressway in 2003.
"It is important that the city perform this work to ensure safe and comfortable
travel conditions on the Don Valley Parkway and the Gardiner Expressway," said
David Kaufman, General Manager, Transportation Services, Works and Emergency
Services. "Regular maintenance work also results in the long-term protection of
the city's transportation assets."
Alternative traffic routes are available and the public is encouraged to
consider using public transit (TTC and GO) as a convenient, alternative choice.
