special contributions to ensure that caring is in full bloom at each home.
During this ceremony, Mayor Lastman will receive a special award commemorating
the many contributions he has made to promoting community involvement and
partnerships across the city. Councillor Olivia Chow, Chair of the Community
Services Committee, will join Mayor Lastman to honour the volunteers.
Date: Thursday, June 5
Time: 12:30 p.m.
Location: Council Members Lounge
Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. West
The celebrations will include a display that highlights the many activities
that make volunteers such an important part of the Homes for the Aged team.
In 2002, over 1,800 people volunteered more than 150,000 hours in Toronto's
Homes for the Aged. Their contributions included escorting residents on trips,
running special events, working in tuck shops, visiting one-on-one with
residents, and many other activities that help remind residents that they are
part of a community that cares.
Note: Award winners from each Toronto Home for the Aged and resident
representatives will be available for interviews following the presentation
