Media Advisory: City of Toronto to officially open Beechwood Wetland: Wildlife habitat restoration along the lower Don Trail

Toronto City Council, in partnership with the Federation of Ontario
Naturalists, The Task Force to Bring Back the Don and the Toronto and Region
Conservation Authority and representatives from Toronto Parks and Recreation
will officially open the Beechwood Wetland.

This major terrestrial and aquatic habitat restoration project, which began in
the spring of 2003, promises to be an effective way to demonstrate how wetlands
and woodland provide habitat and improve water quality and help to restore part
of the Don's wildlife corridor.

Greetings, planting of a commemorative tree and wetland plant and unveiling of
new interpretive signage will celebrate the occasion.

Date: Saturday, October 4

Time: 10:30 a.m.

Location: Beechwood Wetland
Along the Lower Don Trail,
North of Pottery Road
(near Pape Avenue and O'Connor Drive)
