From Daniel Libeskind to Distillery Jazz Festival performers -- Doors Open Toronto lead-up events May 21 and 23
Toronto Culture -- In the week leading up to the fourth annual DOORS OPEN
TORONTO, two great events will kick off the city-wide celebration of our
culture, architecture and heritage.

On Wednesday, May 21, join moderator Ben Chin, Anchor, Canada Now, CBC
Television, for Edifice Complex: why we care about Toronto's architecture. The
forum will be held from at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts (27 Front St.
East) from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Hear opinions from a panel consisting of

· Daniel Libeskind: Lead Architect, Renaissance ROM
· Royson James: Municipal Affairs Columnist, Toronto Star
· Kevin Garland: Executive Director, National Ballet of Canada
· David Jackson, Cityscape Development Corporation - The Distillery Historic

Have your say about the good, the bad and the ugly - the buildings that create
the shape of our city. Is there a Toronto style? What excites or disappoints
you about architecture, and how does it affect you on a day-to-day basis? What
visions do you have for the shape of Toronto to come? These questions and
others will be addressed. Forum capacity is 500 seats, available on a
first-come, first-seated basis. Admission is free. 416-366-1656. Program is
subject to change.

On Friday, May 23, don't miss the DOORS OPEN TORONTO kick-off event at ROM
Friday Nights from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Royal Ontario Museum, 100 Queen's

by the Lost Dancers of the Six Nations of the Grand River, 7 p.m.; and Lyne
Tremblay and the Scott Marshall Trio, from The Distillery Jazz Festival, at

Contemporary Architecture (1912 - 2006), an illustrated lecture, followed by
