Media Advisory: Survey revealing youth attitudes on crime and violence to be released

As part of Youth Safety Week and as a lead-in to the major symposium on youth
crime and safety being sponsored by the City of Toronto, January 16-18,
Councillors Chris Korwin-Kuczynski and Olivia Chow will release the findings of
a City survey of youth in four at-risk neighbourhoods - Parkdale, Jane-Finch,
Regent Park and Malvern. The survey is part of the Toronto Youth Profile 2003
and provides significant insights into the perceptions of young people about
safety in their communities.

Councillors Chow and Korwin-Kuczynski will be releasing the Toronto Youth
Profile 2003 and the Speak Up: Toronto Youth Talk About Safety at a news
conference in Committee Room 4, City Hall at 11 a.m. on January 15. The
councillors will be joined by Rahel Appiagyei, youth safety coordinator of the
Toronto Youth Cabinet.
