Gardiner Expressway closures from April 26 to 29

Works and Emergency Services - All lanes of the F. G. Gardiner Expressway will
be closed in both directions from the Humber Bridges to Carlaw Avenue for
maintenance and construction work from Saturday, April 26 at 11 p.m. to Sunday,
April 27 at noon.

Access to the westbound Gardiner from the York Street, Spadina Avenue and
Jameson Avenue on-ramps will remain open to accommodate traffic exiting the
downtown core until 2 a.m.

The work activities planned include construction zone setup for the Sunnyside
Footbridge painting project, spring catch basin clearing, debris removal,
general cleanup, routine sign maintenance, work on the flashing beacon signs
and sweeping operations.

The same section of the road will be closed at other times during the week, as
follows:

* Closed in both directions from 9 p.m., Sunday, April 27 to 5 a.m., Monday,
April 28.

* Eastbound closed from 9 p.m., Monday, April 28 to 5 a.m., Tuesday, April 29.
Access to the eastbound Gardiner from the Bay Street and Jarvis Street on-ramps
will remain open to accommodate traffic exiting the downtown core until
midnight.

* Westbound closed from 9 p.m., Tuesday, April 29 to 5 a.m., Wednesday, April
30. Access to the westbound Gardiner from the York Street, Spadina Avenue and
Jameson Avenue on-ramps will remain open to accommodate traffic exiting the
downtown core until 11 p.m.

"The work is being undertaken to ensure safe and comfortable travel conditions
on the Gardiner Expressway and to protect long-term value of the City's
transportation assets," said David Kaufman, General Manager, Transportation
Services, Works and Emergency Services.

Alternative traffic routes are available and the public is encouraged to
consider using public transit (Toronto Transit Commission and GO Transit) as a
convenient, alternative choice.
