Toronto Animal Services opens new South Region Animal Centre
  
Toronto residents are invited to a Grand Opening Celebration of Toronto Animal
Services' new South Region Animal Centre tomorrow, Thursday June 5.

Dr. Sheela Basrur, Toronto's Medical Officer of Health, will open the Centre
with Councillor Joe Mihevc, Chair of the Board of Health, and Councillor Irene
Jones, Chair of the Animal Services Advisory Committee. The official opening
ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. and will be followed by tours of the Centre.

The Centre is located at the Horse Palace at Exhibition Place and can shelter
up to 150 cats, 80 dogs, 20 rodents and other small, furry animals.

Toronto Animal Services is a branch of Toronto Public Health.

Attention Photo Editors: The 1 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony will involve the
Wags & Whiskers mascot, and will be followed by a tour of the Centre for VIP
guests and media.
