Media Advisory: Mel Lastman Square gets all-star treatment at Sunday Serenades

Sunday Serenades presented by Scotiabank is a weekly summer concert series at
Mel Lastman Square. The series brings the smooth sounds of top-notch swing, big
band and jazz acts to a hot summer evening. Swing dance enthusiasts will have a
chance to dance under the stars at these free concerts. Sunday Serenades runs
every Sunday between July 6 and August 24 from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Closing out Sunday Serenades first month is the Toronto All-Star Big Band. They
will also present a very special 1950s show. The Toronto All-Star Big Band is a
dynamic orchestra that pays tribute to the legendary Big Band Era and gives
students an opportunity to express their musical creativity. The group,
comprised of young musicians between the ages of 16 and 21, has rekindled
interest in Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman classics. The
vocalists, called the Serenaders, get audiences swinging with the up-tempo
harmonies of The Modernaires and the Andrew Sisters. Some of the Toronto
All-Star Big Band's notable performances include Toronto Beaches Festival,
Niagara-on-the-Lake Peach Festival and Daly Centre in Chicago.

Date: Sunday, July 27

Performance by: Toronto All-Star Big Band

Time: 7:30 to 9 p.m.
