Seafood festival at the St. Lawrence Market this weekend|

The 3rd annual Feast of St. Lawrence will take place in and around the St.
Lawrence Market complex this weekend, August 22 to 24.
Toronto and area seafood restaurants and suppliers, including many from the St.
Lawrence Market itself, will be on hand to offer samples of seafood. The menu
will include lobster, mussels, oysters and a wide variety of fish. The event
will run Friday, August 22 and Saturday August 23 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and
Sunday, August 24 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission to this event is free.
The Market will also host the second Annual North American Oyster-Shucking
Championship. Oyster shuckers from the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Canada
and the United States will compete in this true cross-border, bi-coastal
oyster-shucking championship. The preliminary rounds will run on Saturday from
noon to 5 p.m. with the championship round starting on Sunday at 3 p.m. The
event will take place on Market Street, immediately west of the South Market.
The Treasures of St. Lawrence is also back this year. Local residents and arts
and crafts dealers will fill the Esplanade south of the South Market with
tables of treasures for sale. Once again this year, proceeds will go to the St.
Lawrence Community Bulletin's Emergency Fund. The event runs Saturday, August
23 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, August 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission
to this event is free.
These events are held in conjunction with Toronto's Buskerfest, which has moved
into the St. Lawrence neighbourhood and will begin on Thursday August 21, and
run throughout the weekend.
