Media Advisory: City of Toronto to officially rename Don Mills Parkette in honour of planner Macklin Hancock

Councillor Denzil Minnan-Wong (Ward 34, Don Valley East), representatives from
Toronto Parks and Recreation and the Don Mills Residents Incorporated will
officially rename the Don Mills Parkette to the Macklin Hancock Parkette.

Macklin Hancock is the former Chief Planner of the Don Mills Development
Corporation, and was a driving force in the planning of the extremely
successful Don Mills community. Hancock made it his goal to show how important
nature is and to have parks for generations of children and parents to enjoy.
Hancock's vision became the blueprint for communities across Canada, planning
and designing communities that were financially accessible to all.

The ceremony also recognizes the Don Mills community's 50th Anniversary in
2003. Greetings and a new sign unveiling will be followed by a reception at
Taylor Place, 1 Overland Drive.

Date: Saturday, September 20

Time: 2 p.m.

Location: Don Mills Parkette
990 Lawrence Avenue East
(north-east corner of Don Mills Rd. and Lawrence Ave.)
