Mayor Lastman congratulates Vancouver on successful 2010 Olympic Bid

Toronto - Mayor Mel Lastman today extended congratulations to Mayor Larry
Campbell and the Vancouver bid team on their winning bid for the 2010 Olympic
Winter Games.

"They all worked incredibly hard and did a great job," Lastman said, noting the
competition from both Salzburg, Austria and Pyeongchang, Korea was steep. "It
is a tremendous victory - not just for Vancouver/Whistler, but for all of
Canada."

"I also want to congratulate the Province of British Columbia, the Government
of Canada, and the Canadian Olympic Committee. As was the case with Toronto's
previous bid, I know all of these people worked together as a team. They have
made the whole country proud."
