Catholic students give gift of transportation to homeless people|
| || ||
For the second year in a row, students from Toronto's Catholic Secondary
Schools will be involved in the Ticket to Ride Campaign, to provide
transportation funds to people without homes. At a special kick-off event at
Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts, students will be invited to join the
initiative and learn first- hand about some of the issues homeless people face.
Toronto Councillor and TTC Commissioner David Miller will chair the event, and
will be joined by Councillor and Chair of the Toronto Police Services Board
Norm Gardner, and Ralph Peter and Frank Kewin, from the Toronto Catholic School
Board's religious education department.
Students from Cardinal Carter will be joined by students from Dante Alighieri
Academy, to hear from agencies serving homeless people, elected officials,
school board officials, and, most importantly, homeless people themselves.
