Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Milliken Community Recreation Centre

Mayor Mel Lastman and Members of Scarborough Community Council will hold a
ground breaking ceremony for the Milliken Community Recreation Centre on
Saturday, November 21, 1998, at 11:00 a.m.

The centre is located north/west of the existing fieldhouse in Milliken Park at
Steeles Avenue and McCowan Road (entrance to park off Steeles, east of
McCowan).

This new community recreation centre which is scheduled to be completed in
December 1999 was approved as part of the Milliken Park Master Plan and will
add a much needed community recreation facility to the Milliken and North
Agincourt communities. The components of the recreation facility will include
a multi-purpose gymnasium, community room, kitchen, lounge and board room,
craft rooms, pre-school room, outdoor terrace and play area.

The Milliken Community Recreation Centre serving the Milliken and North
Agincourt communities and adjacent neighbourhoods will improve the quality of
life for existing residents as well as make the area a more attractive
community for families to live, work and play.
