Official Opening of Rotary Park Pool Set for Saturday, August 29

The official opening of the Rotary Park Pool will take place at Rotary Park, 25
11th Street (south of Lakeshore Boulevard in the former municipality of
Etobicoke) on Saturday, August 29 at 4:00 p.m.

The facility consists of a series of pools, which feature 25-metre training
lanes, a shallow children's area and a splash pad capable of independent use
when the main pool is closed. The 400 square meter pool pavilion contains
change facilities as well as an open public lobby and viewing area.

The Rotary Park Pool is intended for seasonal use.

Swell, a sculptured piece of furniture designed for the deck of the Rotary Park
Pool, will be dedicated at the opening of the pool. Public art was
incorporated into the project and made possible by the Public Art Program in
Etobicoke.

The pool, which has been open to the public since June, received a 1997
Canadian Architect Award of Excellence. The project was selected from 114
entries submitted nation-wide.
