East York By-Election set for Thursday, September 24
  
Electors of Ward 1 in the City of Toronto will go to the polls on Thursday,
September 24 to select a third councillor for the ward.

The polls will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. All voters should be
prepared to provide personal identification in order to receive a ballot.
There are approximately 76,000 registered voters in the ward.

A total of eight candidates are seeking the city council seat. The candidates
are: John Antonopoulos, Kevin Mark Clarke, Gord Crann, Dide Maxted, John
Papadakis, Jane Pitfield, Sophie Nunziata-Tsolakopoulos, and Stuart Ian
Weinstein.

The new councillor will become the third representative for Ward 1 joining
Councillors Case Ootes and Michael Prue.

With the addition of this seat, there will be 58 councillors representing the
City of Toronto.
