Mayor David Miller’s statement on subway accident

Toronto Mayor David Miller was saddened to learn that one TTC employee had been killed and two others injured while on the job this morning.

“On behalf of all Torontonians, I want to extend my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased at this difficult time,” Mayor Miller said. “My understanding is that in his five years with the Commission he was a model employee and had received commendations for his performance.

“The loss of any life is tragic but especially so when it comes while on the job. Every day the women and men of the Toronto Public Service perform vitally important work and a tragedy like this one hits home for all Torontonians.”

The mayor also extended best wishes for the quick recovery of two other workers injured in the same accident.

“The City of Toronto remains committed to the safety and security of all its employees,” the mayor said.
