Nominations for the East York Blooming Contest 2007 begin
The City is now accepting nominations for the 2nd annual Toronto Parks, Forestry and Recreation - East York Blooming Contest 2007. The awards recognize outstanding front gardens in East York that contribute to the beautification of our city and include creative landscaping with perennials, shrubs, and colourful annuals. The nomination submission deadline is Tuesday, July 3.

All front yard gardens belonging to residents and businesses with a street address in Ward 29 and Ward 31 are eligible for nomination.

Gardens will be judged in late July and early August based on a variety of criteria including design, use of plant material, condition and maintenance, hard landscaping, environmental practices, and community contribution. Gardens will be recognized in the following categories: Residential-Traditional, Residential-Environmental/Alternative, Commercial and Industrial.

An awards presentation will take place Wednesday, September 12 at the East York Civic Centre Council Chambers, starting at 7 p.m.

The East York Blooming Contest is a partnership between the City of Toronto and volunteers from the East York Garden Club.
