Media Advisory Medical Officer of Health to call for action on poverty
  
Medical Officer of Health Dr. David McKeown will urge the Board of Health to join the fight against poverty at its meeting tomorrow afternoon. McKeown will present the report “Cost of the Nutritious Food Basket - Toronto 2007,” which reveals that the cost of nutritious food in Toronto has increased by seven per cent in the past year.

Representatives of The Stop Community Food Centre and the Association of Local Public Health Agencies (alPHa) will also make presentations to the Board outlining the negative impacts of poverty on health.

This report is the first item on the Board’s agenda.
