Media Advisory: Youth Leader Kempton Howard to be memorialized with park renaming
Councillor Paula Fletcher (Ward 30 Toronto-Danforth) will host a Mother’s Day event with community members to officially rename Eastview Park to Kempton Howard Park with the unveiling of a park sign and a plaque dedicated to his memory. Special guest at the ceremony will be Joan Howard, the mother of Kempton Howard.

Tragically killed December 13, 2003, Kempton Howard was a talented and respected 24-year-old youth leader and mentor who worked at Eastview Boys and Girls Club. Mr. Howard was a recipient of the Youth Ontario Volunteer Services Award, and a Boys and Girls Clubs of Ontario scholarship. He was the favourite youth basketball coach and an inspiring and beloved role model for area young people.

Kempton Howard Park, a City of Toronto property, features a softball diamond, a wading pool and playground equipment. It is extensively used by children and youth from Eastview Neighbourhood Community Centre and nearby schools.
