Media Advisory: Green Lane Landfill media site tour
The City of Toronto will provide a site tour of the Green Lane Landfill for media on June 13th. City Council approved the purchase of the Green Lane Landfill on March 28, 2007, to secure a site to meet the City’s needs for solid waste disposal.

Date: Wednesday, June 13, 2007
Time: 11 a.m. (tour start at landfill)
Location: Green Lane Landfill in Southwold Township, south of St. Thomas

An RSVP is required on or before June 5th to attend this event.

Getting to the site:
A map to get to the Green Lane Landfill will be provided upon request. Those media who require assistance in getting to the Green Lane Landfill from City Hall should advise the media contacts on or before June 5th.

Event overview:
City staff will provide the media with a 20-minute briefing on the site at 11 a.m., to be followed by the site tour. Media will tour the site in special City vehicles in small groups (media will not be able to tour using their own vehicles). The City will provide the necessary safety equipment to wear on-site, but media are advised to wear sturdy walking shoes or boots. The site tour will be approximately 20 minutes in length and will provide opportunities for vehicles to stop so media can record images. The order in which the media will participate in the tour will be determined at the site. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided at the site.
