Southbound Allen Rd. closed this weekend for spring maintenance

The City of Toronto will be performing a number of maintenance activities on Allen Rd. this weekend. In order to undertake this work safely, a closure of the Allen Rd. will be required.

Allen Rd. will be closed in the southbound direction from Transit Rd. to Eglinton Ave. from Saturday, May 12 at 12:01 a.m. to Monday, May 14 at 5 a.m.

Motorists can use Avenue Rd., Bathurst St., Keele St. and Dufferin St. as alternate routes during the closure.

Specific activities that will be undertaken during this closure include:
- demolition work at the Dell Park Ave. Bridge
- installation of Queue-End Warning System
- TTC bridge maintenance work at Lawrence Ave. W.
- catchbasin cleaning (required to ensure proper drainage)
- pavement markings and sign maintenance
- guiderail and asphalt repair
- tree trimming, grass-cutting and garbage pick-up
- expressway lighting maintenance.

"Motorists who are travelling in the immediate area of the closure are encouraged to take extra time to get to and from their destination and be patient," said Gary Welsh, General Manager, Transportation Services, City of Toronto.

Whenever possible, the public is encouraged to use public transit as a convenient alternative.

For further information about other road closures, check with Transportation Services’ Road Info line at 416-599-9090 or visit the City’s website at http://www.toronto.ca/transportation.
