Media Advisory: Tree huggers with measuring tapes awarded $157,500
  
Toronto Parks and Recreation Division -- The Ontario Trillium Foundation has
awarded the Association for Canadian Educational Resources (known as ACER)
$157,500 to set up a community-based Forest Research Program at the Humber
Arboretum.

What: Humber Arboretum is hosting a Spring Community Celebration event with
nature walks, garden tours and children's craft making. The highlight will be
the official launch of ACER's community-based forest monitoring program, in
which community members will participate in mapping out the Arboretum forest as
part a long-term monitoring of forest ecosystems in Ontario.

Where: The Humber Arboretum Nature Centre, 205 Humber College Blvd., Toronto,
Ontario. Enter Humber College's entrance A and proceed through the parking
kiosk and past the student residences. Park across from the arboretum in
college parking lot #1 and walk up the brick path to the nature centre.

When: Sunday, June 10 -- opening remarks at noon; hands-on forest research at 1
p.m.
