Media Advisory: City raises Torontonians' smog awareness
Torontonians will be tested on their knowledge of smog at Smog-a-Rama 2001.
Councillor Olivia Chow, co-chair of the Toronto Cycling Committee, and the City
of Toronto's Road and Trail Safety Ambassadors will kick off this event.

Date: Friday, August 24
Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: 2 Bloor Street West, at Yonge and Bloor

Toronto has broken records this summer, with 20 smog alert days. Smog-a-Rama
2001 highlights the growing concern about smog in the city. The event features
an oxygen bar demonstration and a smog awareness survey with people on the
street. The afternoon will be topped off with live music performed by jazz band

The Road and Trail Safety Ambassadors educate road and trail users through
public safety information campaigns and encourage sustainable transportation.
Smog-a-Rama 2001, part of the smog awareness campaign, is run in co-operation
with Toronto Public Health and is sponsored by Friends of the Environment
Foundation - TD Canada Trust.
