Task Force to Bring Back the Don kicks off "Greening the Narrows" project
Between Queen and Gerrard Streets East, the Don River is narrowly constrained
in a transportation corridor neglected for over 100 years.

Now the Task Force to Bring Back the Don is inviting residents, business
operators and other stakeholders in the area bounded by Queen Street East,
Broadview Avenue, Gerrard Street East and River Street to take part in a
consultation process on how to improve the Narrows.

To begin the consultation process, the task force is holding a community event
on Sunday, October 14, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in Riverdale Park,
immediately behind St. Sava Church at the northeast corner of Gerrard Street
East and River Street.

The event will feature music, a pancake breakfast, tree plantings,
face-painting, displays and a variety of other attractions for residents of all
ages. Attendees will also be able to discuss their ideas for the Narrows with
members of Bring Back the Don.

The Task Force has established a sub-committee called the Don Narrows Team. The
objective of the team is to organize a consultation process that will result in
a new vision for the area. This event will be the first general public
involvement in the process.
