Mayor Lastman to call special session of Council

TORONTO - In a bid to protect Toronto taxpayers, Mayor Mel Lastman today asked
Councillors to re-convene next Thursday, December 20, for a special session of
Council to discuss MFP Financial Services.

"I know it's close to the holidays but time is of the essence," Lastman said.
"We've been doing our best to negotiate a settlement with MFP to avoid costly
litigation."

The City's outside legal counsel will submit a report to Council at the special
meeting respecting the status of litigation with MFP. The City Clerk has polled
members of Council to ensure a quorum can be met.
