Cat and dog licensing and registration fees increase
Toronto Public Health --- Licensing and registration fees for dogs and cats are
increasing effective today, October 1, 2001. All dogs and cats must be licensed
and registered with Toronto Animal Services in accordance with the Toronto
Municipal Code.

The fee for animals that are neutered and microchipped is $10. Previously,
there was no fee for this service. For animals that are not neutered or
microchipped, the fee is $50, up from $35.

Pet owners who have already licensed and registered their animals will receive
renewal notices in the mail reflecting the fee changes. Notices are sent out
annually one year after a pet is registered. The fee increase will affect only
those who receive their renewal notices after October 1.

Toronto City Council adopted the fee changes in June 2001.

To license or register a dog or cat for the first time, visit or call one of
the following Animal Services Centres. For general information, leave a message
