The Children's Advocate Award for Best Practices honours Toronto-based
organizations, agencies or programs that demonstrate innovation and leadership
in serving children in the community. Each winner is awarded $5,000.

Nominated programs show innovation in delivering existing services in a new and
more effective manner, work collaboratively with other programs or service
sectors to provide improved service, or provide new types of service to meet
community needs. About 35 programs were nominated for this year's award.

The Children and Youth Action Committee, established in 1998, is made up of
members of Toronto City Council, school trustees and community representatives.
The committee works to improve the health and well-being of Toronto's children.
