Light, laughter and live music at Cavalcade of Lights!

Toronto Special Events - The 35th annual Cavalcade of Lights presented
by Scotiabank launches the holiday season in Toronto on Friday, November 30,
5:30 - 11:00 p.m., with a newly expanded festival format featuring a sampling
of Toronto's fantastic musical performers, the flourish of illuminated street
theatre, the glitter and movement of giant puppets, stiltwalkers, and more!

Cavalcade offers a full evening of the best in free family entertainment.
Nathan Phillips Square will be filled with light, laughter and live music,
including:
  • The Swing Band of the Royals with a hip and swingin' holiday performance featuring big band, jazz and swing favourites
  • Marrón Matizado with their unique blend of sizzling modern salsa to heat up the chilly winter night
  • The Celtic roots-rock sounds from dynamos, The Mahones - guaranteed to get you dancing under the night sky
  • The rink rockin' cover tunes of Naked Brunch as they serve up all your favourites for a skating party on Toronto's famous outdoor rink, 9:30 - 11:00 p.m.
  • Plus, something to thrill and surprise you at every turn, including the graceful and skilled movements of the Higher Ground stiltwalkers, the excitement of spontaneous action-packed street theatre, a fantastical giant dragon maneuvered by eight people and the beauty of illuminated dancing characters.
For the past 35 years Cavalcade of Lights has kicked-off
the holiday season in downtown Toronto with a dazzling ice show and the
lighting of Toronto's giant Official Christmas Tree and the surrounding civic
square with 100,000 festive lights.

The 2001 event scheduled for Friday, November 30th, 5:30 - 11:00 p.m. at Nathan
Phillips Square promises to be the most spectacular event in Cavalcade history
with the launch of a new festival format and the addition of the Walt Disney
World Fireworks Spectacular.

Admission is FREE and getting there couldn't be easier! Nathan Phillips Square
is located at 100 Queen Street West. Take the TTC Queen Street streetcar (501),
or the Yonge Line subway (exit Queen station) or the University Line (exit
Osgoode station).
